Kathryn B, you need to get educated on who the Founding Fathers were. People think Christians want to take away thier freedoms, funny, but it's the liberals who are destroying those freedoms. They hate Christians because we won't just go away so they can kill all the babies they want. Hitler would be so proud of the Democratic Socialist party, zieg Hillary!

Let's see, should I start with the Crusades, or the witch hunts? Or maybe I should talk about how everything in the Americas and Europe is Christian centered. Or maybe I should talk about people knocking on my door or following me in the street as they try to preach to me about god and how they think I should find the light. And how they usually don't even back off when they hear that you don't believe, or have a religion already and say things like "Maybe you just haven't found the right religion yet".
You ask why non-christians knock christians? Take a look at the behavior of Christians in the past and present and then tell me why we shouldn't.

Let me ask you a question - if you could live in a nation where Christian dogma was enforced as law, would you mind if pagans like me were rounded up and burnt at the stake? Thou shall not suffer a witch to live, after all. Plus, I've put my own Gods before yours, which is a direct violation of the first of your ten commandments. My guess is a lot of you wouldn't care if people like me conveniently "disappeared". *That* is why I fear fundamentalists Christians. It's not the religion that's scary - it's the zealot and militant followers of the religion.

My fear of Christianity stems from the reality that I may have my home burned, my business bombed, etc. These are real threats that I have received from a local Christian organization. My fear is not Christianity itself, just some of it's followers.
By the way I don't knock others for their beliefs. I just want to be left alone so I can enjoy my mode of worship as well.

Maybe it's because they're turned off by the fact that it's a blood cult. That part tends to scare people; you know, when you drink your grape juice but pretend it's the blood of your saviour. Then there's the cannibalistic part where you eat bread but pretend it's the flesh of your saviour. That's kind of gross too. Or perhaps people are afraid to see history repeat itself. You know, like burning innocent women at the stake because they were accused of being witches. With me, I value skepticism and critical thinking very highly. I'm afraid that if Christians were in control, I'd be persecuted for it.

I don't fear Christianity. I don't really even fear most Christians. I am afraid of the militant kind of Christians who want to push their narrow and non-Christ-like beliefs on other people. I am afraid of the kind of Christian who would like to send me to hell. This fear inspires violence in my soul. I am trying to cope with that, because I don't believe that God wants me to be hateful or violent. Thank you for letting me answer a good question.

I think that many non-Christians (excluding Muslims) believe that logical, rational thinking is superior to blind faith. Some people dislike the barrage of rhetoric from evangelical Christians who are bitter and constantly derride non-Christians in a crabby, cranky and critical fashion.
On the other hand, I remember the testimony of a former heroin addict (from Peacemakers) who became a Christian one morning when he and his companion awakened in the middle of a cornfield where they had been thrown aside from their totally demolished vehicle because he remembered the words and attitude of a Christian he had met long before.
He said at the time when the Christian was speaking to him he was not interested in hearing the message, but when he awakened in the corn field and realized that he had just escaped being killed, he remembered the words. He vowed to become sober and to become a Christian helping addicts to find God.
He described the Christian whom he had met as having the fruit of the spirit love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, meekness, temperance and faith. He recalls that it was the attitude of the Christian that he remembered which ultimately caused him to seek Jesus Christ, for himself.
He explained that he had taken drugs because he felt an emptiness inside and since converting to Christianity, he no longer felt that emptiness.
People who are not Christians do not know that Jesus is Lord. They do not fear that. Non-Christians mainly "knock" Christians not for their beliefs, but for their scolding attitudes. What is very persuasive about Christianity is the philosophy of Jesus to love one's enemies and to forgive in order to be forgiven. It is very comforting to know that one's sins whether small or great can be forgiven.

The people who are saying that they fear the U.S. government taking away their rights, and this is why they knock Christianity, aren't really looking at your question. One need not bash a faith in order to work proactively to ensure the upholding of the documents and laws that were created at the founding of this country.
It is my opinion that you are accurate in your assessment. People fear Christianity because there is something to fear about it. The Truth can be fear-inspiring if you don't understand it.

Every set of beliefs or religion has it's basic concepts and it's misconceptions. Your spiritual connection with the Divine is the most intimate personal relationship you will ever have. No one knows what path best expresses your own unique connection with a Higher Power, not ministers, not priests, not psychics, not your family, not your soul-mate, and not me.

No. Not fear, loath. Christians are always trying to kill off people who disagree, make laws to force their myths on people. Your jesus and lord do not worry me. Its the people acting in their name that annoy me. Your gods are welcome to try and do anything to me, I challenge them. Let me guess, next time a traffic light makes me late for a movie, that will be gods punishment? LOL He better do better then that to impress me. Or is he afraid of nonchristians? Afraid to appear in public?
