Overland from Hong Kong to Thailand? You can't as Hong Kong is an island, unless you go to China first then overland down south to Vietnam...and again from Vietnam to Cambodia. There are 2 gates way to Thailand from this point, either via Poipet (Aranyaprathet in Thailand) or from Srihanoukville to Koh Kong (Trat in Thailand) From Aranyaprathet you can take either train or bus to Bangkok, and also from Koh Kong, there are many vans running from Thai border to Bangkok or Pattaya.

About 2 weeks on the Silk Road Express if they don't get a flat tire on the train. Get on at Chong Shek Lop and that's the most direct route to Peng Nop Soon in Vietman... Don't stick your arms or legs out the window on the train!!!!!

I don't know, but wow, good luck dude!

You can refer to Lonely Planet travel guides etc, and other people who have done the same thing before and read their interviews on how they did it.
