I am asking this question of the women and men who have been there already, this is a serious question. I believe they could use a boost in morale, and our support from home. Please no snide comments or answers. Thank you!

Ive been in the Army for 6 years now and just got back from my second tour in Iraq a month ago. I just want to thank you for all your support. Now here is alittle hint for what to pack and what not to for thoughs that are still over there.

On most bases that are over there we do have stores now so we can buy just about anything you would want. Unless you are on a small base like I was. If your going to send soap, foot powder and that kinda stuff please do NOT put it in with food. Nothing worse then biting into a poptart that taste like Irish Spring LOL. Everything anymore comes in small sized pouches like cookies, fruit snacks, chips.... the list goes on. Another good thing that has come out over the last couple of years is the single serving drink mixes. All our water over there is bottled so drink mixes are good. Tea, coolaid, Tang...... you get the Idea. Thanks again for all your support!

I'm told foot powder and good socks are important. I'm sure comic books and other reading material will be welcome. And any munchies that pack well, such as nuts or hard candies. Avoid chocolates, though, because they will melt. And what about those little personal care things, like a fresh toothbrush or razor?

The thing my husband liked best was Boost or Ensure drinks. There were long periods that they couldn't eat and he said those extra calories did him good (his buddies were always trying to get them too!) He also liked those kits where you make tuna salad or chicken salad and they have crackers in there.

Books; magazines; Axe Body Wash, deoderant and spray; snacks (chips, nuts, beef jerky, popcorn, non-chocolate candy); DVD's or computer games; cards, handwritten letters, drawings by children; phone cards; anything that might be fun to them (i.e. travel games, dice, playing cards, puzzles, etc.)
