I have a cross with Jesus nailed to it at the feet but his arms are bent at the elbows with his hands above his head with palms facing forward. What is the significance of this posture . i have never seen another one like it ...thanks Scravey

Some interpretations of ancient text indicates that the Romans of that time crucified via a large stake or pole (no cross-beam that we associate with the 'cross') This may be a carving based on that interpretation of the language. However, most Christian religions have made the cross one of the strongest symbols, so this alternate version is relatively rare, but not unheard of.

All in all, however, whether he was crucified on a cross or a straight pole is not the hottest topic in that story. :)
