Just recently, my cat has begun pooping on the mat beside the back door. A first I thought it was because she couldn't get outside, but a few weeks ago she actually came in from outside to poop there. Is there anything I can do to stop her from doing it?

Spray some white vinegar on the mat where the cat poops or pees. Cats hate the smell of vinegar and won`t poop there any more. Above all, the vinegar will kill any bad smells too. It should work.

Well I heard someone say, " put some liter fluid in its butt and light a match to it.". That will surly cure the problem.. But seriously, lmao try putting the cats nose in it while squirting it in the face with the water inside the bottle and yelling kinda soft like to the cat " that's a No, No"!! you may have to repeat it several times before the cat gets the idea. When holding the cat, you want to grab it at the back of its neck fur to prevent getting scratched.. Always worked for me. The cat will get pissed but, you will get your point across..

Change the mat, the cat always goes back to refresh his own odor to mark his territory. Take a mat with a dog print on it.

Throw away the mat. Then it will poop on the floor where the mat was.

Put the litter box there, perhaps? Wash the rug because maybe another animal has messed there your cat is makring his/her territory. Or, just move the mat or get rid of it all together

Pick up her poop and put it in the litter tray. Put her in there so she can smell it. There is pet spray that you can buy that will elminate the smell on the mat so she won't want to poop there after that.
