How about searching for a girl in a place where you actually like to hang out (i.e. library, mall, starbucks) and pick a girl to your liking. That way when conversation kicks off, you'll already have one thing in common. From there, you simply ask her out.
Remember:
The worst that could happen is that she'll decline your offer. If so, try again with the next girl you like. Out of 10 girls, at least 2 will like you!

Go to somewhere you like hanging out and feel comfortable. Start socializing with women there and get their phone numbers become friends with them. Who knows someday you might realize one of these friends you actually have romantic feelings for. If that happens then just kind of hint at it slightly when the two of you are hanging out and see how she reacts. If she reacts well then you should tell her about your feelings for her and if she seems to be uncomfortable with it hold off for awhile and try again later.

i don't think that a shy guy can find any gal, otherwise u r cute enough that gals automatiucally attract to u
By the way, Be polite and try to make eye conatct especially with gals.
U should know that i als owas aa shy guy but now by following these steps my shyness gone away.

You just gotta get out there man! There are TONS of women out there who want to be approached by a sincere and thoughtful dude. Just be real with it. Start working out and get a couple of nice things to wear along with clean, well maintained shoes and you'll be in like Flynn.

Analytically speaking, it is hard for a shy or extrovert person if he/she is too shy or too fast. Probability is high rather that he/she will get the wrong person. You shudnt be too shy or too fast both of these are sign of instability or lack of confidence.
