Yes, we need to learn. Not only in school, everywhere. Today informations are valuable, for anything. For love, for marriage, you need to have brains not only looks. Sure, everyone will want to date that stupid blond, to have her, but as the mother of his children? I don't think so. Who holds information, holds the key for better life. Even in Serbia it works. Take plain shopping. You can buy one thing for a large amount of money, but you can get the same thing elsewhere at low price! So, the one who holds that information will have money in his pocket to spend on something else. Or employment. You see cleaning ladies in your school/college, and what do they have? Honest job, yes. But lousy, with no perspective. They will be cleaning those floors to the rest of their mediocre lives, without time and energy to do something for themselves. How many times you've heard them saying: You kids go to college, if you don't want to wind up like this? You have nothing to do if you have only high school degree.
I think it's better to warm up the chair, to study, go to college, and at the end to open up something of your own where you can hire people to work for you. Don't you think it's better?

PS Ja sam iz Beograda, a odakle si ti?

Life does teach us much more than school. However, school (along with a fair amount of knowledge) gives us the mental tools we need to learn the most we can from life.

It's funny that I just came from the "If there were no Moon, would there be gravity on Earth" question and was feeling really afraid for our youth. There were answers like "The Earth has gravity, because it rotates around its axis" and "We have gravity because of some center of the Earth crap".

School is where they have consolidated a lot of the knowledge accumulated by others. Are you prepared to figure out math, calculus, biology or whatever on your own? Although you could learn spelling by using spell check on the computer.

Absolutely. You learn things in college that you could never learn anywhere else. Whether it be academically or even life lessons. Not only that, employers today are looking at college certificates, whether you know the information anyways or not.

Although I think school is important, there are things you can't learn there. Real world experiences are valuable also.
