I am a 31 year old guy. I got near a 4.0 in college and graduated in 3 years instead of 4. I didn't even have to study most of the time. I was a political science and history major at a large state university. For 10 years now I have been drifting from job to job because I can't understand the training. I am a slow learner on jobs for some reason. I can't grasp the necessary concepts. It causes me stress and I have panic attacks. To the point where I can't breathe. Then I get to the point where I am so far behind in training or on the job that I panic and quit just to get my sanity back. People say that they like working with me and that I am a friendly co-worker. I joke around alot and bring a positive attitude to the workplace. Employers also say that they like me because I have those traits and I show up for work everyday and show up on time. What is my problem here. Why can't I succeed on a job?

Wow, sounds like my bio. I am same age and graduated with a philosophy degree a few years back but not with a GPA like that. Good for you.
I was bouncing around different jobs unsatisfied until I finally quit for 7 months. I lived off savings in ahouse witha bunch of old college buddies. I was able to do a lot of thinking in this time about my priorities, my direction, my great loves in life, and mainly just relax. Not having to wake up every single morning to a job that I hated and could never seem to do perfectly enough was exactly what I needed.
So enjoy your time off. Tune in to that still, small voice in your soul and try to find out what it's saying.
And I know it's scary but the only way to move on is face your fears.
If you're blest with a real good friend confide in them and they will support you.

Are you doing jobs that aren't to your liking? Something that doesn't excite you? Perhaps it not that you don't grasp the training, maybe the motivation is not there for you to learn it. I have seen a layed off Technical guy go to work at a hamburger place and he couldn't take it. Not that it was not easy for him or hard, but it didn't drive him.
Secondly, political science and history, school etc are all structured enviroments. You show up on time, because you suppose to. That you have gotten, you need a structured enviroment to function at your best. Many people do. Your worry of you "not being able to learn or train" is causing you un needed heartache. Panic attacks etc ensue and it makes it much worse.
Look at your job as an outlet, function within the parameters of the requirements and enjoy making people laugh and working with them as a foot outside the parameters. Find something you like to do, work at and I promise you, you will focus in on it.

Trust me, what you are experiencing is not that all uncommon. Maybe it's not that you can't understand the training as it is that you are afraid you are going to fail and get so worked up over that it causes you to not to be able to concentrate. We can sabotage ourselves that way. Sounds also that you don't have much confidence in your ability to do your job. For your training...why not focus on one aspect at a time. There is no way you can learn all there is in one day. Take lots of deep breaths and keep trying. Good Luck.

It sounds to me that fear is holding you back. If you haven't been fired then you are the only one thinking that you are slow to learn and that you're not understanding the training. Now you may think I'm crazy but I don't care if it helps you then it doesn't really matter if someone else thinks it's crazy, right? Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to take fear of success from you and commit to give him all of your fears and he'll answer, he loves you and he created you. God made you smart and he didn't make you that way so you couldn't use it, he made you that way to glorify his kingdom.

Best wishes Hun and God may bless you.

Just relax.
You shouldn't compare with others. you are who you are.
Some people learn fast, others don't.
Obviously, you are intelligent and well prepared for any job. So, next time, just relax, enjoy and don't take things too seriously. Go with the flow, and if you have a problem, talk to your boss or coworkers. Keeping it for yourself is not the solution.
