If they are truly in love then it can work! My boyfriend lives in Scotland and we have been together 2 years and will see each other in three months for the first time. Despite the distance we have had a very fufilling relationship and I have no regrets about it. I know my friends worried about me when they initially found out about our relationship and thought that I would be happier with someone closer to home, but once I explained things to them and they got used to the idea they were fine. You are a good friend to be worried about this guy because relationships like this can get destructive. I would advise you to let him have this relationship, but do NOT let him get antisocial, and so infatuated with this girl that he does not get out, talks to her online and on the phone all day, etc. Make sure he gets a healthy amount of socializing in real life. As long as he does this, I think he would be fine.

I think it'll work. It seems like they are both committed to the relationship. I have been in a LDR for 3 years now and it's still going good. Although we see each other about 5 times a year.

It can work but it is very difficult, more than 6 months is too long in my opinion but everyone is different
My workmate comes from the phillipines and his wife is still there and he hasn't seen her for about 7 years - now that is a worry
as long as they keep in close communication it can be ok, but together is best

If it is that far i don't think that relationship is healthy because your friend or his gf might be cheating on eachother and i would just talk to him and just say look i know you really love your gf and im just tryin to help but don't you ever think you are missin out on somthing. Well good luck and if he say that he isn't missin out on something i wouldn't be worried about it. I hope i could help.

Long distance relationship can be hard. this is coming from my own experience. you never know what is happening in their life. it can be hard because you cant check in on her. If you are in us and she is in china who knows what she could be doing. She could be cheating on you for all you know. maybe if he or she moved in with their bf/gf things would work out better. from the sounds of this i don't think things are working out to well. So he should do what is in his heart. What he really wants. tell ihm this and se what happings. thanks.

No, they hardly ever work..Someone just ends up getting hurt in the end...But, who knows, they may be one of the few who do. :]
