Which came first the chicken or the egg? The chicken, of course. If we try to fit religion into reality then we are trying to say the effect is ruling the cause and not the cause ruling the effect. If there is true religion it must drive the results of our life and not the other way around.

Religion is based by definition on faith, reality is based on verifiable phenomena. You can not shoehorn opposing concepts. It is a fact that everyone is trying to shoehorn truth (veracity) to their faith (or their reality) based concepts. But no one can ascertain the truth of some speculation until it happens

because changing your religion to suit yourself is a dishonest way to deal with religion. I don't think its a salad bar, where you pick and choose which ideas are the correct ones. Its an all or nothing proposition. If particular points of faith within a religion fails to jive with reality, then the whole religion should be scrapped.

It would be nice. Unfortunately, many religions promote "believe this way or perish" I'm surprised and disheartened that so many people are willing to forego reality entirely. Seems like a very inflexible way to be. And it seems to me that those who can't adapt are the ones that will perish.

That's pretty much what I did. I spent a good deal of time building my framework of how the world works as I see it (this involves a lot of Jung and quantum physics). Once done, I decided that occultism was the most logical path to follow, and after learning about Buddhism later, worked a good deal of that in as well. I recommend this sort of seeking to everyone--how can you follow a faith if you don't know your own mind?

People have been wondering that since Darwin destroyed the book of Genesis. It's time for religionists to adapt or be purged from society.
