While NYC is amazing in so many ways--there are some issues that do need attention. The disparity between the rich & poor is higher in Manhattan than anywhere else in the US. Another thing that needs attention is the New York Public School system. Too many people are leaving that system without an appropriate education.

While NY is a great city, like any place in the world, there are issues to be addressed:
Crime while dropping dramatically seems to be peaking upward in some categories. There is a rise in violent gun-related crime.
Cost of Living has always been a problem in New York. Rents are astronomical, it is almost impossible to live in New York. Salaries do not match the prices for rents, food, clothing. Gentrification of many formerly minority neighborhoods (Harlem, Bedford-Stuyvesant) is causing friction in the city as well.
Education needs to vastly improve. Test scores are still below what they should be, graduation rates are still not high enough, there are not enough qualified and caring teachers, and the classrooms are way over crowded.

The biggest problems in my neighborhood are horn honking and people who don't clean up after their dogs.
