My brother and his wife have started going to a Jehovas Witness church about 7-8 mo. ago ONLY because they knocked on their door and they were stupid enough to let them in even AFTER they found out who they were. Now all of a sudden.....no Birthdays....no Halloween....no Thanksgiving.....no Christmas....no NOTHING!! Is 8 mo. even long enough for them to suddenly do this?? They have obviously been BRAINWASHED!! My 1 year old nephew is going to be sooooo deprived! :(

Jehovah's Witnesses believe the bible to be the inspired Word of God, and the best place for advice and direction in their lives. Their beliefs, teachings, and actions are based completely on the Scriptures.

Yes, seven or eight months of diligent study is enough for a sincere person to decide that Jehovah's Witness represent true Christianity and true worship. Globally, about 16 million associate themselves with Jehovah's Witnesses. There are about 6.5 million active Jehovah's Witnesses who publicly preach each month. In the United States alone, over a million Witnesses go from house to house each month hoping to share an encouraging word from the bible.

Ironically, the ones accusing loudest and longest that Jehovah's Witnesses 'brainwash' their adherents are ones who seem to have little actual bible knowledge themselves. Really, their prejudiced insults and misinformed slander are evidence of the accusers' own religious intolerance and anti-Witness bigotry.

From those I know of who attended a "Bible Seminar" and then studied with Jehovah's Witnesses

They have told me, that in studying 6 months with Jehovah's Witnesses they've learned more about the bible, than they did in the 4 years they spent at a seminar.

As to your nephew missing out, my two children received presents and gifts all year round.

Which says I Love you more, Giving a gift on a date when everybody gets a gift, or when the parent or friend says "No special date, just because I love you."

I can completely understand why the Jehovah's Witnesses are one of the least appealing Christian organizations. They reject patriotism, birthdays, holidays, blood transfusions, and even primary family members who will not convert.

My mother was a Jehovah's Witness from early adolescence until she left home for college and she hasn't looked back since. The rest of her siblings remained in Kingdom Hall. Two of my cousins from her youngest brother also left but live within 75 miles of the home. My other two cousins remain in Kingdom Hall. One is mentally handicapped and the other, a full-time pioneer, has cystic fibrosis. The last time I visited this clan, he was very cold toward me, sneered whenever I talked to him, and prayed in front of me right before eating his tall stack of pancakes. What a mofo! My uncle complains about nothing except homosexuals and compares their lifestyle to alcoholism. He thinks that they would be better if they became witnesses. I feel very unwelcome in that house. Question is, will I ever go back there. If you want to see the worst example of witnesses, go visit this family. At least Motel 6 leaves the light on for you.

It doesn't take long. Many people crave magical solutions to all their problems. Faiths like J.W., offer them this, along with community and comfort. Its easy for people who aren't particularly independant of mind or spirit to get sucked into it.

And why no Thanksgiving? Last I checked that was a National Holiday and not a religious one.

I think that 10 minutes would be long enough to become a Jehovah's Witness, all you have to do is lose your mind. The whole system makes no reasonable sense.

You cant really put a time limit on any interest. If this is what they choose, then the family dynamics will drastically change. It will be an adjustment but you don't have much choice when it comes to their beliefs. Good luck

Yea, it's a cult. They work quickly. If they want out, it will be slow and painful.
