"Magic" mushrooms (or 'liberty caps') look like the proverbial 'little brown mushroom' and are not unusual-looking in any way, really, though they can be characterised by the 'nipple' on top and by certain features on the stems. Eaten in too small a quantity they do nothing but induce nausea, too great a quantity and they will poison you, and the correct quantity will induce hallucinations. If you wish to experience hallucinations there are much safer ways to do so.
P.S. Birdchick's mushroom is a "Fly Agaric", not a magic mushroom. It's even easier to poson or even kill yourself with the Fly Agaric...

Magic mushrooms are the very large ones out in the forest, with wide tops. The ones little leprechauns and elfs dance on. The little brown spots are where their little feet danced.

What everyone as failed to tell you above is what they look like when you've eaten some. They actually look like minute pink elephants with blue & brown rabbits as jockeys on their backs.
