For the past week, every day, I eat some gum, water, and maybe a little taco every few days at school, and when i get home, i eat a full dinner. I told my friends, and they said this type of diet is not good since I'll gain all the weight back. Is this true?

Food is your friend little one.

You must eat, it fuels your furnace, which moves your butt, which burns calories, which makes you hungry, so you eat. It is the staff of life.

There are no secrets to weight loss (or staying thin) If you want to lose weight, move everyday, walk, jog, take the steps an extra time, do jumping jacks, just do something. Then eat 6 or 7 small "meals" a day. Think fruits and vegetables, walk to the store everyday and buy an apple. Finally, drink lots of water and indulge yourself every once in a while.

Being thin is a lifestyle, not a diet.

This type of diet is not good NOT because you'll gain all the weight back, but because you're getting little fuel and nourishment during the day! Don't worry about "gaining the weight back". The idea is to eat a breakfast of protein and complex carbohydrates (say, and egg and a slice of whole wheat toast), and then fruits and vegetables later, and throughout the day. Eating the biggest meal last may not be the best idea -- moderation throughout the day is best. If you're consistent with this, your weight will stabilize and you won't need "diets". You'll just know how to enjoy a good healthful diet for the rest of your life.

It's TERRIBLE for you! You shouldn't deprive your body of the nutrients it needs. Eat healthy meals regularly, as long as they're balanced! Don't forget to eat breakfast! Studies show that people who eat a healthy breakfast are more likely to be able to manage their weight.

Eat normal meals, and get excersise too! I don't believe in dieting- you will gain it back up. As Dr. Phil once said, "By the definition of 'going on a diet', you will eventually have to 'come off' of one".

Also, remember that the body STORES fat. By going on diets and cutting out the fat from your diet (your body NEEDS a certain amount of fat, by the way) your body will actually retain and store the fat that it already has, since it's being made to think that food is scarce. It's a natural process for survival.

first of all that is not starving- not eating at all- for a couple of days is fasting-and is good for you- but restricting your food like your doing is bad- because your body thinks there is a shortage of food and will store all of it that it can as FAT- so... cut back on what you eat- snack all through the day-Not tacos! - eat fruit and veggies-preferably raw(uncooked). and the last meal of the day should be a light one- keep something in the furnace to keep the metabolism up- that in turn burns calories-FAT! and eating less at a sitting will shrink your stomach- lots of water is a must!

Starving tricks your body into going into "hoard mode" and slows down your metabolism. Instead of burning calories, your body stores sugars and fats in your fat cells. Your energy level will decrease.
Best thing to do to lose or maintain your weight is to eat a better variety of foods, limit your caffine intake, eat more but smaller meals (5-6 fist-sized "meals"), eat more fruits, eat less saturated fats, stop drinking soda, don't skip breakfast, eat smaller dinners, and get enough exerise.

Yes it's true. Don't try to starve yourself! Just eat a lot of healthy food and exercise regularly and you'll have a normal weight.
