Vandoren reeds are what i've always used. I find them to be the most reliable, although Rico Royale are ok too but not as good i don't think. Start off with a 1.5 strength if you're a beginner - these are easiest to blow as they are softer. To get higher notes though, you'll need to go up a few strengths. I use a 3 and have done for years. Anything above that is too hard.

I prefer Vandoren, as do most other clarinetists that I know. I use a 3 1/2 or 4, but you might want to go with a softer one if you haven't been playing for very long. I've heard that Vandoren reeds are harder than most other brands, so that might be another factor to consoder.

If Vandoren reeds are unavailable to you, I recommend Rico.

OMG! i hate the clarinet.i realli want to quit.i least i dont have to do it this year anymore. well it depends. if ur gonna go on the low notes than u 2 1/2 or lower. if ur gonna go for high notes than use a 3 and over. i personally like the 2 1/2. my mouth hurts when i use a 3 n over.sometimes the notes dont come out. 2 1/2 works fine for high notes too.

I use a 3. I think the best reeds are Rico reeds.
