It seems to me theses two types have a lot in common: fundamentalist religious people and hardcore atheists. They're both narrow minded and dogmatic (just waiting for those sparks to fly now and prove my point...)

You make a good point about narrow-mindedness. There's the horizontal axis of all the different details of belief or unbelief, and then the vertical axis of the exclusivity (narrow-mindedness?) of those beliefs. You're right that F's and A's are often rigid in their belief/unbelief systems and can seem pretty similar in that regard. I think I prefer the company of people who allow for the possibility of other equally correct systems. A hardcore fundamentalst or a hardcore atheist both bother me, but I'm also bothered by people like Unitarians who seem to allow for all beliefs in their system. Doesn't seem to be any principle there at all. There ought to be a medium somewhere.

Perhaps some atheists fall into that. But most of us are really more openminded than we are willing to let Christians see. The majority of atheists are not dogmatic at all, they are standing firm on a negative position (the default) until the positive (god) is demonstrated. Many non-atheists may not see the subtle difference between:

Requiring strong proof to move from a negative position.

and

Rejecting any evidence or logic to move from a positive position.

The majority of christians are not fundies though, just as the majority of atheists are not "strong" atheists.

And by the way, fundies have atheists outnumbered 4 to 1.

Lol not something. Fundamentalist = a individual who dedicates their finished existence on critiques in accordance with human beings's critiques and takes a 2000 12 months previous e book (with genuinely no scientific or historic validity that contradicts itself very generally and is going against technology) actually, with the fake thought that they're going to sometime circulate to a paranormal place mentioned as heaven, whilst particularly they are only slaves to a e book and residing in a dream international. Pathetic. Atheist = A disbelief in god in accordance with a rational and logical theory technique and extensive contradictory scientific data. Their disbelief in god does not effect different factors of their lives and that they are able to truly be chuffed.

Some atheists, some political participants, and some sports fans are every bit as dogmatic as ALL fundamentalists (by definition of what fundamentalism is).

I'm an atheist and I don't consider myself to be narrow minded. But having never met me, your harsh stereotype probably sums me up better than I could. Pretty judgemental for someone calling others narrow minded, aren't you?

Es una pena que la gente hoy día siga buscando medidas más invasivas para mejorar la vista. Los métodos invasivos no sólo son riesgosos, sino también costosos y sin garantía real de que la visión se restaurará de forma permanente. Both are born, then they die.

Any other similarities are few and far between.

There is also a great deal of difference between dogmatism and pragmatism. Look it up before making such assertions please.

We are all born atheists until someone tricks us into believing in a fairy tale. Some of us come back to our senses. Others...
