I had five goldfish that survived for 10 years! i think it depends a lot on the size of ur tank as well, and the proportion of food... thats what a petshop owner once told us...they grow according to the space they have

i bought 4goldfish when i was in 6th grade, and now i'm in eighth grade. all the fish have gone. :(
however, you may have a different kind of goldfish, so no need to feel scared already
