You should have some complex carbohydrates, like whole wheat bread and sweet potatoes, these are slow burning carbohydrates that the body burns over long period of time, ( i.e Overnight ) and this way you wont wake up starved in the morning and wanting to eat a lot. And keep very well hydrated, no alcohol or coffee as they tend to dehydrate you. Add some quality protein like tuna or roasted chicken in your meal as well. But more importantly you have to think about what are you going to have about 2 hours before the run, rather than the night before. 2 hours before you run, fuel up on carbohydrates, something like ½ cup of oats, and some pasta or rice, and maybe a banana a multivitamin, with water. And drink non fizzy sport drinks during the day. Don’t forget to carb up after the run as well as your body would be crying for it.

Good Luck

Tomorrow is the Army 10- Miler at the Pentagon. (Way longer than 10k.) Tonight's menu is heavy on the carbs: spaghetti with marinara sauce and garlic bread. A moderate amount, no over-eating. One glass of wine only. And early to bed, to be well-rested.
