Okay, the one up above may solve your ininitial problem. But then you still have the foreign language information. If simply pressing mute solved your problem you probably wouldn't have tyyped that in as your question, you would have asked how to change it back to english. So I am going to assume you tried the mute thing and it didn't work.

On most TV's, espececially newer ones, you can have On Screen Display messages in many diffwerent languages (these days, its cheaper for the TV manufacturers to make one TV and just change the power cords related to the country of destination than to do it all tahn to design each moel TV and adapt them for the countries...) anyway If your remote is in English, there should be a button that says menu or setup. When you push that you should get the first screen that is teh set up menu and there are usually two - four choices. One of those choices, usually the top one, is the languages button, when you select that ( or find the one that comes up once you press it) one of the next options should say English, in english, press that, press exit and you should be done with that step. If that has solved your entire problem, and pushing mute gave you sound then great. But as I said before, its ounds like you still have the no sound issue.

If its a newer TV, made within the last 3 years and is 27 inches or bigger, these newer TV's are equipped with a function allows you to turn on and off the internal TV speakers, so it may be that someone turned them off so that the TV speakers are muted regardless of whether you push mute or not. If you have solved the OSD Languuage problem above, then the next part isnt as difficult. Push menu (or setup) on remote. Navigate through to the audio display and then press enter on your remote, this will get you onto the audio sub page and should have options for internal speakers etc. Once you find the right item pertaining to the speakers, select that option and it should tell you that the internal speakers ( by internal it means the the TV speakers--external means the audio will be sent through the audio output in the rear and will only be heard if you have it connected to a Receiver) are on or off. Simply selecting the correct button on your remote will turn on or off the internal speakers. Once you clear out of the displays, it should be done. I hope this works. Keep n mind that the actual steps may vary depending on your TV. Best bet is to consult your manual, if you don't have one, most are available online in PDF format.
