I have been trying out opera and there are somethings I was wondering about adblocking. I use firefox a lot and my favorite extensions
are the adblock https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/10/ and Adblock Filterset.G Updater https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1136/

They do a very good job of blocking adverts and I was wondering if there was anything I could do for opera.

Opera 9 - Content Blocker or Ad Blocker

Its pretty easy, right click on an empty part of the page, click on "Block Content..." select the banner or banners. Then click on done on top.

If you want a huge list of ad servers, check out this Opera forum thread:

Opera 9 and newer version have a built in ad blocker. It works differently than Firefox. On any webpage, right click any empty space on the webpage. This will open the contextual menu. Scroll down and select Block content. The webpage will become translucent and any ads and/or ad banners will be highlighted. Left click once on any of the images and it will be blocked. You will see a red strip across the image with the words "Blocked Image." Continue the process with any image you want to block. Once you are satisfied, click the [Done] button which appears above the webpage. All images from the same advertiser will be blocked from now on (e.g. doubleclick). It is a very good ad blocker but since you can not import a black list, like the one with Adblock Plus, you have to do so manually. But, after a couple of days, Opera will learn which ads to block.
