Depends on what you mean by tea? Afternoon Tea... traditionally served at about 3pm.... Tea as in what the northerners call their dinner in the evening.... anytime between 6 and 8 I guess....

I'm eating at 7 if you fancy it..... I've cooked homemade cannelloni, but cheating on the garlic bread...... with a nice bottle of Red... New Zealand, Marlborough region.

It is the working class equivalent of the Victorian's upper classes High Tea.

One broke ones fast with breakfast, stopped for elevenses, ate luncheon at 1pm, had high tea at 4pm and dinner at 8pm.

Considering elevenses was a drink and a snack, luncheon was 2 or 3 courses and high teas were tea and cakes, it's no surprise really that many Victorians were more overweight than the mcdonalds scoffing lard buckets of today.
