Hi Jam
do you walk her and is she out in the air often. i know that's silly to ask you, but she could be bored. Would you be able to get another dog for her (just a thought). My dog is a westie,,, she sleeps like a baby but i don't see her yawn often. Maybe my answer is silly

My dogs yawn too... the young one - he also does this stretching thing too - where he crouches his front down.. bum in the air - leans back - then leaps up - yawns and looks completely satisfied with his lot! I suppose it just like us stretching and yawning - getting the blood moving and oxygen in our lungs!
The older one yawns after she wakes up - then goes back to sleep again. She is 12 years old knocking on a bit you see!

Dogs cool down by panting and yawning as they cannot easily regulate their body temperature through their thick coats.
If you think she may be finding your home too warm, make sure she has enough water and fresh air/exercise.

When this happens to a human it means that the heart is not getting enough oxyzen - have her/him check out by a vet to see if there is a heart or lung problem!@

If its a hyper breed of dog and its yawing a lot than thats weird. but if its a more laid back type of breed than i guess thats normal. Take him on a walk, make him active! :-)

she may be bored. she may also just be demonstrating that there is nothing of any concern to her at that moment in time. or your dog has found someones stash of mary jane and is stoned up!!
