My mother found this kitten Friday night and we have been feeding it kitten formula and keeping it warm. Is there anything y'all can suggest more?

Is it on a bottle? That's tough - I've done it a few times. Is it eating enough so its tummy is rounded out when it's done? Warmth and keeping it dry are the most important things. Gently take a pinch of its skin between your fingers and see how long it takes to return to normal - if it tents and doesn't go back, the kitten is dehydrated. It should be fed about every 2 hours. You should start weaning the kitten when it's about 6 weeks old - Kitten Chow soaked in a little warm water is best - do not give it milk in any form - this will give it diarrhea, which can be deadly.

The other important thing you must do is make sure the baby can eliminate. Take a cloth, rough like terrycloth, make it damp with warm water, and very gently rub the kitty's bottom the way a mother cat would use her tongue. Be gentle but firm This is what the mother cat does to stimulate elimination of both kinds. You must do this or the kitten can die of constipation.

If you plan to continue raising the kitten, you should have a vet check it out ASAP to check for parasites and for general health. it's a tough job but it can be so rewarding.

I have been in this same situation, but with a newborn puppy. What I did was take the pup to the vet right away,to get a check-up and for the vets advice. So far,you are already doing what needs to be done for the kitten. It needs to be kept warm at all times, and fed kitty formula every 2 hours. That is very important.Since the kitten may not have gotten any of it's mother's milk, which is full of immunizing nutrients, you will need to make sure the kitten gets it's immunization shots as soon as the vet says it is old enough.Wherein comes the problem of wether or not you have the funds to do this. With my puppy,I had to have many vet visits and many different shots for her to ensure her health and well-being.Many problems can come up concerning a newborn animal, and a lot of money is needed for their care.If you feel you may not be able to handle the money end of this, you may want to consider giving the kitten to an animal shelter or pet store where the kitten will receive the care it needs at no cost to you.

I don't think there is much more you can do. I actually went through the same situation, not once but twice believe it or not. The first time this happened the kitten I found abandoned was about 1 week old. I had to feed him with an eyedropper, it was tough at times but he survived & he is now 6 yrs. old he's very healthy. This happened again 4 yrs. later, same exact story. I cared for her the same way as the other and she is also fine and healthy. Make sure to keep it warm. I guess all I could say is keep up the good work, have patience. Good luck!! P.S. make sure you bring it for a check up, shots, have it spayed/ neutured and give it lots of love!

KMR is the ONLY thing it should be drinking - not milk and not that cheap cat milk treat.. KMR is very expensive - depending on the age of the kitten it will need its bowels stimulated so it poops and pees - do this by rubbing a warm wet cotton ball on its bottom like a mom cat would lick it..
call a vet or give it to the local humane society or SPCA - or just call them to ask for further help.. I have done this lots as a foster home but was just gonna sign off and go to work now...

it quite is 2 and a a million/2 hours. Get an eyedropper and a few homogenized milk mixed with water. Skim milk won't paintings because of the fact they want the fat in homogenized, yet in lesser concentration. Feed them untill you may experience their bellies pass taut, yet be sure you may positioned stress on it without it getting too uncomfortable for the kitten. be sure you may positioned atleast an oz.. of stress on it. while it's time for them to alter to solids foodstuff, provide them a million/2 of the milk then make a mixure of kitten fod with water and milk. no longer too liquidy or too crunchy.try this for about 2 weeks, then advance the foodstuff alittle bit extra and shrink the milk. try this alittle bit extra each and every week until eventually they are weaned from milk and then attempt putting them on confusing ingredients. You do thid by increasing the solidity point and depleting the beverages point until eventually you get confusing. have been given it? lol For dozing arrangments, get a small card board field with severe factors. positioned a towel, then a tender, absorbent blanket on the backside (wool works maximum suitable) and then a tender snug blanket on that. in the event that they do no longer seem to be sleepig at evening attempt feeding them each and every 2 hours or substitute the blankets.it quite is a competent concept to have spares laying around. attempt this in the event that they nonetheless won't sleep. Get a warm water bottle and fill it with luke heat water, Rap a towel in the back of it. Now grab a clock and lay iut interior the field (it truly is that in case you get a huge sufficient field). Now lay the bottle overit. this could resemble a mama cat. The water bottle will resemble a water bottle and the clock a heart beat. If this does not paintings, then your screwed, lol. Bye

Keep doing what you are doing, you will have to help her when it comes time for her to start using the bathroom, what you need to do is at the base of her tail on her back just massage it and she will do her buisness.
