Well the deal with so called geniuses in arts like Picasso, is that they are a bit odd, call it eccentricity. Now most people would refer to them as deranged or high because they don't understand them. They got visions that we can never interpret they got a different perspective in life, a fiery passion for what they believe in which in turns get the best of them(ex. Van gogh who took he's life for what he believes ).

"Shock Value" the term is new but the act is old.
He saw a chance and jumped on the cube you might say.
He didn't think color he filled in the space. His reputation gained notarity because of his women. He was not high all the time and he was not deranged as you put it. He was manipulative and a persuasive man.

According to an apocryphal tale, Pablo Picasso told an interviewer, "I am a mountebank peddling trash to fools". If he didn't say it, he should have. Salvador Dali and I knew/know it is true. Dali said Picasso was destructive to art. Picasso knew quite well what he was doing, so he was a calculating man, not a deranged one. He made much money from selling garbage that passes as art.

I believe he suffered with depression and manic phases but what artist doesnt? Dali was a nut job as well anyone who has extreme intellect or talent usually has some less than normal social problem i dont know why.

How about "smarter than you."
Obviously he was brilliant or his Guernica would not be in the UN and his paintings in museums and his name still a household word.

He was part of an art movement that was exploring Cubism and abstraction. It was in the context of the theater and dance and music movements of the time.

piccaso was a genius in his own right however, by his own admittance he was also a thief.other artists had to hide their work when he came around as he would steal their ideas.the genius of theman was the ability to market his work and make a quid.
