i can tell this pup is miserable..i really think she is cramping...
any suggestions on how to make her more comfy?
and also, does anyone know how long a dogs' heat cycle lasts?

ok thanks for the answers so far.
i am NOT going to have her spayed just yet... we have plans for her...
also i did notice her water intake has increased by a good margin... but i figured that to be normal.. as i too drink more liquids..lol...
the vet didn't give any thing more than what i already knew, but i was more curious of the length of the cycle...
oh and as for the spotting around the house... the dammed doggy diaper cost me $25!! i already fixed that lil problem :)

Yes she's miserable! Why did you let her get into heat? Why haven't you spayed her yet? You're not going to breed her are you? And don't use the "I can't afford it" excuse. Because if you can't afford to take care of her then you shouldn't have her.

There's nothing you can do while she's in her heat cycle except to keep her away from the male dogs. And when her heat cycle is over with, have her spayed. The cycle will last a couple weeks.

Her cycle will be three weeks and she will have one about every six months.
You can buy doggie pants for about $10 and put a minni pad into them and they keep the house clean. I like htem better than the more expensive doggie diapers. The pants I got at Petsmart are denim and washable. You just stick a pad in them and change it as needed.
Since she is a mix I would spay her. It will also lower her risk of mamary cancer and she will not get pyometras. Uterine infections.

A dog's heat cycle lasts 3-4 weeks. I really think that you should do some research as to what all in entailed when breeding dogs before you carry out your plans with her and most importantly, you really need to take your vet's advice - they do know what's best for your pets. The cycle can last 3-4 weeks and they get it 2 times a year. Let her rest and don't be suprised if she's moody. It is best to keep small children away from her so they don't annoy her. If you're not going to breed you should fix her. Spotting around the house is gross.

you can get a pill from the vet to end the heat cycle

I would strongly suggest getting her spayed - as a cross breed she isnt breeding quality and every heat cycle a dog expeinces is more chances for problems later in life (cancer)
spaying reduces some health risks so is always best

21 days, 7 going in, 7 ready to conceive, 7 going out. Unless you want to have her have pups (so many unwanted puppies are put down each year) then please have her spade. During the middle 7 days she is wanting to get some, really she does. She is waiting to mate. I don't know what you can give her but you could call the vet and ask and maybe make an appt. to have her spade.

perminantly u can get her spayed (also if your area is requiring anything with pit blood to be altered, then you may want to start now) but for now just give her lots of water. Take her on walks when shes not in heat (not now or you will wake up one day and have tons of dogs surrounding)

You may want to take her to the vet. She could have something wrong with her uterus.

not that long , but this is just nature don't worry about it but try and not let her get pregnant at this young age , she shoul be at least 1 yr old before she has her first litter, she will probably come in heat about every six months if you don't want puppies then i suggest you have her spayed , too save you the trouble of keeping her away from her male friends

I would at least call the vet to see if they can give you any advice to help her.
