Pair 1 is blue / white-blue Ext. socket 2 and 5 (Speech)
Pair 2 is Orange / white-orange Ext socket 3 and 4 (3= Ringing. 4=not used)

Thats all you need to know for a 2 pair cable in a uk domestic single line, from master to extensions.

Well, since you spell color with a u, I am guessing you are in a European country. So, I don't know the specifics for Europe. However, one is tip and one is ring. One breaks the circuit so you can make a call; the other applies the voltage to ring the phone.
