I have had the same thing. You begin to think about it and you think there is basically nothing like what you can't remeber... you are doomed to nothingness. I know the feeling all too well. Seriously I sometimes want to cry when I think about it. It scares me to death. I believe in life after death and God but it still scares the crap out of me, so here is what you do. When you begin to think about death, consume yourself with something else. Even if it is stupid. When I have that problem I just get up and begin to hemp or knit even. Find something that takes consentration. Something you enjoy. If it is at night watch a good movie. Something peaceful. Something that you can fall asleep to while it still keeps your attention. It works for me. I wish you the best of luck!

Liz, You are not crazy, in fact you are very much aware of what people are taking for granted, and that is certainly putting you in a dilemma !
I read your answer to "Why do cats purr ?", and I found it quite comprehensive - even if you pasted it from another source - it shows your perspective.
Life is a challenge, and a an opportunity to experience wonderful things. Just as well, due to values people take for granted, meaningful living can sometimes be a struggle !
Remember, good days and bad days all pass eventually, and you will have endless chances to cope with the harsh days. The art is to be there for better days to reap the benefits and joys.
Religion is not necessarily believing in God, otherwise the majority of the world who claim to believe in one religion or another would not be killing each other, or at best would not be living a rat race !
Also one can believe in God and not be religious.
What matters is what people do, not what they say !
First task for you is to calm and enable your mind to find the best alternative at any situation.
This is what I find effective: sit down for 5 minutes comfortable, anywhere - as long as you feel easy , it can be a quiet room, or at office - close your eyes and breath deeply and slowly. At the same time try feeling your heart beats - some can hear it, some feel the vibration, or even touch your pulse on your wrist. All these help to shift your mind from a high frequency beta activity into a deeper alpha range, at a lower beat.
Sometimes just the 5 minutes is enough, and some times you may need more recharging.
Try it, it can not harm.
In the long term, make sure you have a goal in life. Look for what you are best suited for and do your best in that line. Find people to share the path of life who care too, or need your caring !
Let me know how you go and good luck.

Yes, many people feel/have felt like this, including me, and no, you're not crazy, just suddenly trying to come to terms with something you've probably never thought about before. It's OK to think about these things, but don't make yourself crazy.
"Why are we here, what's the point?" are questions philosophers have been trying to answer for centuries. I believe that we're here to live our lives just the way they are, to love and be loved, and to do whatever it takes in our particular lives to be happy and help our loved ones be happy, and to try and make a positive influence on our own little corner of the world. What else can we do?
As far as an afterlife goes, I myself believe there is one in some form - energy can never be destroyed, only converted into something else. That would be lovely, to see our loved ones again and have the meaning of our existence revealed. But if not, then, we'll never know, will we, and the peace we experience will be the ultimate peace.
Try and relax, take a deep breath. Maybe volunteer at a nursing home, in order to see that long lives are possible, and that many people live in a meaningful way right up to the end of this life. If it continues to bother you to such an extent, maybe get yourself some counseling. Life's too precious a gift to waste on fretting.
Good luck, hon. (((hugs)))

When I was your age, I read a lot about Edgar Cayce and liked the theory about reincarnation -- that our souls return in another body where we reap the benefits of the good we did in previous lives, and live out the punishments for the wrongs we did in previous lives. I lived as an agnostic for more than 30 years with reincarnation as a sort of basis for life.
I've recently discovered Judaism and have found a wonderful people who are working together to make this world a better place for all humanity, to bring peace on earth and justice for all -- Christians, Jews, Muslims, atheists, etc. There are differing views about the afterlife, but because no one has ever been there and returned to tell us about it, we can never know what it brings. In the meantime, I can still believe in my version of reincarnation, but at the same time get a sense of satisfaction, both as a community and as an individual, by doing everything in our power to respect and take care of "others," no matter what their race, creed, or belief.
Try to look at others around you and do what you can to help them. You will find that you will also get that sense of satisfaction from life. We are all in this together -- let's help each other out!

Try reading some Philosophy. Socrates, Plato, Black Elk. Learning how the great minds of the past have pondered the subjects of life and death may help you to come to the peace of mind that no one truely knows. There is a whole world of ideas on the concepts of what 'God' is or isn't. Find your own truths and you will be at peace. The only way to do this is to search for yourself. I was about your age when my turning happened. Your spirit will lead you on your path, keep an open mind.
Blessed Be.... ; )

First off, try to be happy and enjoy things and people around you
When you see an old couple, look at the love they still have after
so many years. Watch things on TV that make you laugh and feel good about yourself. Did you ever notice a very young baby
who laughs & smiles at things? It seems we are born with a
sense of humor. Think only about one day at a time and try to
live it to it's fullest. Have things, even simple things, to look forward to.

You are definitely NOT Crazy....
It 'looks' like you are in a rut......
Hey , so are 2.673 BILLION others at the
moment.
First thing to understand is ;
NOTHING (that is NOTHING) lasts FOREVER
(ask Napoleon) ....
Funny enuf , once u UNDERSTAND just that
you CAN have FUN ....
Life's RULE is ; ENTER - ENJOY - EXIT
There ought to be a BETTER NAME for DEATH , like GOING TO SLEEP ..
MOST PEOPLE are SCARED of death
which is LUDICROUS . It is one of Life's
WARRANTIES. You may as well LAUGH AT
IT, it makes NO DIFFERENCE....
If you have a SENSE OF HUMOR , i could put
is this way ; ONCE YOU STOP BREATHING ,
YOU DONT HAVE TO 'WORRY' ABOUT IT...
Like you say "having a bad time at the moment"
mine is "ordinary" AT THE MOMENT, BUT IT
AINT GONNA LAST FOREVER !
I make sure of that..... SO CAN YOU !

life is like a wheel sometimes you are up and then the wheel starts to turn until you are at the bottom and nothing is going right. then the wheel turns and you're on your way up again. your physical container will return to the place from whence it came freeing your soul and spirit. your soul and spirit will travel to another plane of existence there to continue living in some other form. without life there can be no death but without death there can be no life.

ECCLESIASTES 3:1-14
1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
9 What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboreth?
10 ¶ I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God.
14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him

Your not crazy. Everybody goes through what your going through, at one time or another. Just know that all the answers will come when you go. In the meantime...
Dance as though no one is watching.
Love as though you’ve never been hurt.
Sing as though no one can hear you.
Live as though this is your last day on Earth.
