Yes, use Vinegar. Plain white vinegar. Your dog will smell like a pickle for a little while but it does work. That is all I use. Just pour the vinegar on your dog do not rinse it off. My dog just got sprayed a couple days ago and you can not even smell it anymore. Tomato juice does not work well. Vinegar neutralizes the musk of the skunk.

I have books on solving problems and some of them adhere to using a bath in a tub filled with half water and half vinegar, or (this will slay you)-mix up two packages of Masengill Douche Power (available at drugstores and grocery stores) and wash the dog with this. It's more effective in breaking down the skunk's oil and it's not as messy as tomatoe juice.

I would try it as it would take a bit of the vinigar mix for the other suggestion. Give it a go, the dog and you will be a lot happier than you are right now, right?!

Yes but if you're male you might want to send someone else to buy it.

when my very large, husky, macho #4 brother had a skunk driven into his bedroom by his dogs, the local vet told him to wash himself and the dogs in douche.

Wish I'd been a fly on the wall at the local drugstore for that one!
