This works for me, as my oldest son is getting his Masters Degree, my second son is joining the Navy in Dec, my daughter just began her first year of college... now, I have a 15 yr and an 11 yr old step son. I'm taking a pole on what you all believe are the "responsibilities" of a "step mom"... we have full custody of the boys (but their mother is alive and well - lives close by). She is active in the boys' life now, so I "step" back, and hope that she'll be the Mother, and allow me to be the Step mother... What is everyone else out there doing?? My husbad is a very strong disiplinarian - I'm very lucky there. Life is pretty good; just was wondering, because there are alot of issues out there with other step moms.

Sounds to me like you are one of the exceptions to the rule.Keep up what you're doing as it seems to be working well. :)

You sound as if you are treating your stepkids as if they are your own. And that is a good thing because some step parents want nothing to do with their stepkids. Keep up the good work.

Step kids are your kids too. People that see it otherwise are the ones with issues.

Enforce the same rules as you did with your own children. If your husband stands by you in this, how can you go wrong?

I'd say treat your step-kids as you treated your kids.
