It is interesting that you perception of a real man is just as much about image as the one you dislike.

Are you more man because you have more stubble? :-)

I think it has much more to do with character than looks. I wish our society valued honour, loyalty, chivalry, hard physical work and the other gentlemanly virtues more.

Our society puts image above anything else though and as a result, we guys have become more superficial.

Sometimes i get scared of coming across like to much of a guy. Ive been told off opening doors for women i don't know or shut down for offering to carry a girls bags up a flight of stairs.

On the other had if i look like Johnny Depp, or Orlando Bloom then i will have reached the heights of attractiveness

WOW, where have you been finding men? The men I know are very masculine and usually from the South Side of Chicago, lately anyway. They usually don't "fuss" with their hair, they just get it cut in a nice style, and IF they get a manicure it's because they work hard doing manual labor and their hands get torn up so they don't want to hurt my soft skin with the roughness.

I don't know very many pansies at all and I know men in all kinds of careers. Their are manly men EVERYWHERE and so little time!!

Peace.

I haven't actually noticed any of those things you mentioned, yet I agree they've become more feminine.

What I HAVE noticed is that the colour pink has become more fashionable in men's clothing, pink being feminine yes, is a stereotype, but it's also become arbitrary these days... I really don't like it, and only some butch guys can pull it off.

I've also noticed the increase in the Emo Clique where most emo guys look like transvetites, and most emo women look like lesbian stereotypes. (Notice I said 'most'. I have emo-friends who I love, I'm not throwing around a nasty generalisation).

The skinny jeans really don't do much for a skinny guys' legs!

Apart from that I can't think of any more new traits. Quite a lot of male models are very feminine these days. I think it's just media conditioning affecting them all. It could also be the myth that women prefer feminine, sensitive guys and they're acting on it. ;)

This answer is coming from an enlisted military man with short hair, rough hands, a gruff voice, and muscles. I like my steaks rare, and, in about a year (I'm 20), my beer cold. A lot of the time, I can be an asshole to people, but that's just part of who I am. Trust me, there are still real men out there. You just have to find one.

ha, ha,.....well *JC*....i don't have the bald head or the beer gut,...but i think i qualify as the type of real man your referring to.
No primp hair cut, don't have time for shaving everyday if the party is already starting, and i work in a garage,...so motor oil and wheel grease are my only skin moisturizers. All i need is a hot bath, a hot supper, a hot woman,...and maybe a good cold beer.

Not too many pansies where I'm at.... too many cowboys and ranchers...........(with stubble, beer in hand, dip in cheek, beer gut, and cowboy hats... so you don't see the hair)

Soft is NOT always a bad thing.... we (as women) have the opportunity to make them HARD...when we want... then allow them to go SOFT again... when we are through.....

LMAO...

Try looking for real men in different places. Real men don't go to dance clubs. Real men are out there in the military protecting the freedoms you enjoy. Real men are out the working hard to prepare for their future wives and children. Real men are too busy to spend their nights out partying and dancing.
