Sure, I'd like to hear it. I don't know that understanding would bring agreement.
It is possible to understand the other side and still disagree.

They would be very powerful words as neither Atheisim nor Christianity are simple entities and are not understood easily, or quickly. It was only through a long journey with many questions, and quiet contemplation of those answers, that I came to my decision that all the instruction I recieved as a child was false.
I rejected the religion I was raised in and then rejected all the religions I researched as replacements. Once I had done that, it was not long to reject the central construct of the God figure abused by all of them to control the masses.
The rejection was not in anger nor from any other emotion, it was clear and quiet. Do you want to know what I found? I finally found peace.
For me it has always come down to the choice between reason, inquisitiveness, coherence, rationality and hope versus superstition, dogma, hypocracy, irrationality and fear. Maybe those could be your "words."

I'm not sure it's understanding that's always the issue. It's reconciling very different ways of interpreting the same material: life. Dumbing down arguments never helps much. Back in your box!

what makes you think we don't understand the other sides argument? the sides are pretty simplistic and self explanatory, but nobody is ever going to shut up about it--they've been arguing the same points for centuries--literally

I think most of us have been on the other side before we repented and were born again thru christ. so no matter what word you think you may have...i'll say no it,s not going to matter. i,m happy knowing that when i pass on i will be going to heaven. and for those unbelievers, maybe you should ck out this web sight..God Bless

Why do people think Christians don't "understand" atheists? Atheists don't believe there is a God. Nothing real complicated about that.

Yes, I think that I would want to understand. But I still would not agree if it was against the will of Christ.

"ignorance" - both sides are wrong - all religions/cults/stupid illogical views should be abolished. Let's see how many closed-minded Christians give me a thumbs down for that...
