Consideration of another person’s feeling and beliefs is never a bad thing. Knowingly saying hateful things is something to be avoided. In a true conversation where both parties are interested in the other’s views you should not have to “walk on egg shells.”

No. Depends on circumstances.
Who are you speaking to? Is it a home environment, a casual atmosphere among friends, at work, a speech, or what?
Wisdom and tact should always be used when speaking to other people. Keep in mind that some people are more sensitive than others. It is never correct to make fun of or belittle someone.
If you are trying to be funny, have an intimate relationship to someone, and feel that the person you are joking with can take the kidding, that's one thing. If you have no talent for humor, then leave it to the comedians.Never joke about or make fun of an individual's ethnic, cultural or religious backround, nor anyone who is handicapped or physically marred.
The surrounding circumstances and the relationship you have with the person you are talking to will determine the answer to your question.

Depends who you are conversing with and the circumstances of the conversation. Will you be rude, crude, blunt, ungracious, etc. if you were being interviewed for a job you desperately need? Or if you were in Buckingham Palace having tea with the Queen of England or at a funeral comforting the widow of a friend you knew was "a cad, a bounder and a bloody, bloody thief" - will you say that to the widow about her husband? Grow up.

We don't have to walk on eggshells, but we don't have to willingly be rude either.
I don't see any shy people on this forum that are avoidnig giving their opinion in fear of upsetting sonmeone.
I know Christians do not like my answers from time to time, but I give an honest opinion based on my experience and do not deleberatly get rude. I try to be nice in everything I say.

I find honesty is best regardless that way people know you for you. I'm always honest with people when they want to know the truth. That's what keeps me being me. If it's going to hurt someones feelings they shouldn't ask. Unless the person is just being plan rude.

I'm with Miz Kassandra. We shouldn't.
We're becoming a nation (the USA) of overly politically correct pansies who don't want to breathe, as it might offend someone!

We shouldn't! But yes, some people are big babies and look for any reasons to cry and whine because they read something that they dont agree with.
So they complain and cry, poor little spoiled brats.
Free country, free speech. You dont like it, dont read it. Forget about it if you did. GET OVER IT.
Ug.
Ok thanks for the chance to vent.

No, really people need to hear the truth and more often than not the truth hurts.

Yup, we do. And isn't going to change any time soon. Learn to converse softly.
And yes, most of them are just little babies.
