Because the Black September group wanted to hold them for ransom (either Palestinian prisoners, land or money I cannot remember), but when no one bowed down to their demands they just went and killed them.

proscunio...Instead of reading fanatical fundamentalist literature against Islam, try actually reading the QuRan one of these days. It's worth reading, and will open your eyes to the true nature of this peaceful and precious religion. There is no religion as violent and disgusting as Christianity as it has been practiced for the past 1400 years. Too much emphasis on the Old Testament and the epistles of Paul. Not enough on Jesus. However, the Qu'Ran teaches to be merciful for God is merciful, never to fight beyond your own borders, feeding the poor, healing the sick, taking care of eachother, developing a deep relationship with the God of Abraham, etc.

Every mention of going and killing people in other countries is in prayer, asking God to destroy those that would turn people from God...much like King David, Isaiah, and many others did in the Old Testament.

Now to answer the question. Those 8 Arabic people were acting on politics. The Israelis were holding over 200 political prisoners, and those men were demanding the release of those people. I think everyone agrees that what they did was wrong. They were not following the words of the QuRan, and thus connecting their crime to their religion is simply ignorant. They were terrorists that used violence instead of diplomacy to settle disputes....much like Dubya.

Personally, I have nothing against Jewish people...I care about all of the people in this world...but I will not accept nor decry the actions of a government based solely on the race of people. I will not say that England is good because the people are white, just as I will not say that Israelis are bad because they are Jewish. In the case of the Israeli Government, I do decry most of their actions since the nation of Israel was re-founded. They had taken 50% more land than they were originally given within a year of being there...before the first "terrorist" attack on them. They then, over the course of the next few decades took over the Sinai Peninsula (and lost it again after a little while, then took back the Suez Canal and a strip on the far side) which was part of Egypt, and a hefty portion of Lebanon and Syria, as well as much of the land that had, for thousands of years...long before the Mosaic takeover of Caanan...been the land of wandering nomadic tribes. This is why the Arabic people dislike Israel so much. Most Muslims do not dislike Jewish people, they just don't like the Israeli government because of everything that Israel has done to the nations in the area.

It is true that Arabs have been assaulting Israel for years, but it ws really started when Israel kept trying to take more land than they were given.

So, as you can see, it's not a religious thing, but a political one. It had nothing to do with Islam, but had to do with an ongoing war between Israel and the rest of the Middle Eastern nations caused by Zionism (the belief that Israel should control all of the Mediterranean Middle East).


betterdead...Here's the actual series of events. The group of terrorists stormed into the hotel, killing 2 athletes on the way in. They proceeded to take 9 people hostage, demanding the release of the 200 prisoners. The Israelis refused to budge, so the terrorists took the hostages to the airport to try to get away. German sharpshooters killed 3 terrorists at the airport, which started a firefight that resulted in the deaths of all 9 hostages, two terrorists, and a police officer. Things on both sides should have been handled better, but it didn't.
