I told one of my best friends that I love him and want to be with him. He said he needs time. How much time would YOU take to respond to let someone know if you feel the same way or not?

Everyone is different. Some people take longer to respond to something like that than others... You know him better than any of us, did he take longer than you would think? Did he let you know what was on his mind at all?
I personally think the answer should come pretty quick. But then again, I should know better than that. I was once in your friends position and was told that my best friend was in love with me.... that was almost 23 years ago and I married him. We have been together/married for 20 of those years, but you know what, I didn't answer him for awhile. I was scared to mess things up. We were such good friends and I wanted to make sure that before taking that step I wasn't just reacting to what he said. I needed to feel it for myself... I am glad he gave me the time I needed....

Sorry. I don't think he feels the same way. It shouldn't take that long. It sounds like he wants to be your friend still, and that's why it's taking so long.
