I start giving a thumbs down to people who have to list the WHOLE BOOK rather than a line or two and a sight address for an answer?
Even though it's right, it's still annoying to see a whole book rather than a sight address.

I didn't mean them giving long answers, sorry.
I meant to copy and paste the answers from the books.

I dont think it would be rude to do that its just your opinion your giving - personally I find it annoying also - I have given long answers before but thats because my answer is all my own words and I might have a lot to say on the given topic however if the information is from a site then I just give a breif description and then paste in the website address.

What I don't like is when people obviously copy and paste a big long answer and then take credit for it themselves. They never list their sources. I give people like this a thumbs down. Then some people will give them best answer thinking that they are super smart to come up with all that in mere minutes. You can tell when people are giving their own thoughts and/or opinions based on their own knowledge and if they got the info from somewhere else, they give their sources.

No, that is not rude. It is very appropriate. That is the purpose of the thumb down: to rate an answer on it's appropriateness, helpfulness, etc. Not on whether you agree with the answer or not. Copying a whole book isn't helpful to anyone. Answers should be short and to the point, with appropriate helpful links.

I don't mind a long answer, but I dislike an answer that has been copied and pasted without regards to the content relating to the question.

I think it is rude of people who LIST THE WHOLE BOOK. In most instances they just copy it from somewhere, so I believe that if you give them a 'thumbs down', it might acr=t as a gentle reminder to them.

I will follow you suggestion thanks.

Maybe not rude but not really necessary. Be thankful people are kind enough th answer. Some are short and direct and some give more thorough answers. Anyway, that's my opinion.

Since you are a level 4, you can boo whoever you want to. I agree, a short to the point answer is better than a long boring essay!

Hell yeah it would be rude. People are going out of their way to not only answer your questions but to give you an in-depth answer and because you're too lazy to read it, you want to give them a thumbs-down?

Get a life.

I think that it would be very rude. If you don't want to read the answers why bother asking a question. Are you even going to read my answer or am I wasting my time?

Hey, I LIKE to give long, boring answers. Makes me sound erudite.
