I noticed an answer on a Q about 'Do you celebrate Halloween?'
This is what Barb K responded...

I don't celebrate halloween, It is not only a pagan holiday, but it is also the devil's holiday. Babies all over the world are sacrificed to satan on halloween. It's aweful.

Where do they teach these people this crap?
Does it make you feel mad or pity?

They are taught that stuff by over zealous preachers and/or miss informed parents. His/Her facts are all wrong. The original holiday was celebrated by Pagans yes that part is true, but no they did not worship the Christian Satan they did not even believe he existed. Satan is purely a Judeo-Christian ideology. The only god that every required the kind of sacrifices that Barb K is making reference to was Beelzebub, and in which case that he/she is making reference to said deity they are about 3 to 4 thousand years behind the times because said deity is no longer worshiped to the best of my knowledge, nor was he worshiped on said date because the date of holloween is baised on the Roman calendar which was not even a fore thought in some ones mind during the time Beelzebub was being worshiped. To top it off if babies were being sacrificed every Holloween the population of the world would be getting smaller not lager. I mainly feel pity for this individual; though for a split second I was a bit angry; however I just have to let that emotion go because it's not really his/her fault they are taught this stuff from an early age so in time they believe it to be the absolute truth on the matter and that is sad.

Actually, Halloween is a North American idea. It's not really observed anywhere else. But unfortunately, some very misguided people think that it's a Satanic observance, and do take this opportunity to commit acts that they would not normally do. In Europe and South America they celebrate the Day of The dead in which all our long passed relatives are remembered. A single place at the dinner table is set for any of them that wish to attend. This is where Halloween came from. Pretending to be those relatives and asking for food.
It's seems, these days, that all of our treasured holidays and observances are tainted by ignorance and intolerance.
I pity those that give in to ignorance.

What utter stupid nonsense. All these babies are missing - where do they come from? there aren't any babies sacrificed to Satan. Pagans don't even believe in Satan, you ninny. Why would we sacrifice anything to something we don't believe in? There is no such practice in Pagan worship and anyone who thinks there is either ignorant to the point of being pathetic or has an agenda.

Satanic Panic was a phenomena of the '80's and should have been long dead by now. I strongly urge you to educate yourself. Ignorance is so embarrasing.

It used to really piss me off to see people saying that. Now, though, I don't get mad or feel pity. I can't feel sorry for someone who merely spreads information like that without ever looking into it. A lot of people don't realize that type of information was being spread during the "witch-craze" in Europe and that information came from the "Church" itself. This is akin to listening to a Nazi tell the "truth" about Jews and actually believing it is The Truth. I see those type of people as lazy. I'm just not surprised that people still have that type of mindset. And I believe people like that prefer spreading that type of information as they think it somehow puts a better light on their own religion. They don't realize they put themselves in a bad light and eventually make their own religion look bad.

Then they come in here and wonder why people are mocking the Christian religion and putting the believers down.

This person obviously wanted to spread a vicious rumour, knowing that other religious people will jump on that fact and condemn us all. I'll bet he offered no proof?

I pity them. They're sheep. Led to believe that "mysterious" shadowy figures sacrifice babies, that are never reported missing, it's just stupid.

People like to be right. In order to be right, they make the 'others' more wrong. It's the easiest way of believing they're right. It doesn't even require study, brains or thoughts. Just make the others more wrong, then they're more right.

There was a trilogy of books I saw once that dealt with Spiritual warfare. I never read them, but they seemed to say Pagans do sacrifice babies. There's also that cult in Washington, I'm not sure what they do....the name has something to do with owls.....

It doesn't help Pagans when movies show human sacrifices. The only example of this I know of is Devour. It's a twisted movie, but I don't know if it really happens or not. I doubt anyone will admit to it if it does.

In the bible,, Abraham was asked to sacrifice his son,, of course he changed his mind at the last minute but clearly Abraham was meant to feel it was serious.

As a Wicca,, I have NEVER heard of sacrificing ANYTHING,,, this is Christian Principal,, not pagan.

Get your facts straight before you ask such,,,

stupid questions.
