I too hate ricotta cheese! Since I make Italian Food for a living (and have for 20+ years) it can sometimes get me into trouble...some things just need ricotta. To me, Lasagna is NOT one of them.
To make what I (and my relatives) consider the Perfect Lasagna... do the following: Exact amount depend on how big your pan is. I have made them as small as two servings and as large as a huge sheet pan...
Meat - I usually use ground beef or Italian Sausage (combo)
Cheese - Mozarella, Colby, Grated Italian Cheese Combo from Supermarket
Lasagna Noodles- Fresh or Dried (Pre-cooked/Drain)
Red Sauce- Handmade or Store
When you are assembling your lasagna, use grated cheese of whatever
variety you like. I use Moz. and colby because they melt well. I use NO ricotta or cottage cheese...I think of them as just cheap, not very tasty fillers.
I also use extra meat because I prefer a lot of meat and "real cheese" in my
lasagna.
I spray the pan with cooking spray (to minimize the mess and cleanup). I start with red sauce on the bottom of the pan. Then I place a layer of noodles. I top that with red sauce, meat, cheese. Than repeat as many times as my pan depth will allow. I finish off with tons of grated cheese on the top layer of noodle, with a thin layer of red sauce. This makes it look
beautiful and taste great.
I hope this helps. I know you were looking for an exact recipe, but I am one of those cooks who just puts things together.

Your only option is to eliminate the Ricotta or substitute with cottage cheese. Try overpowering the Ricotta with extra parmesean, and mozzerella cheeses.

Doesn't the classic, Italian (not US) version of lasagna use a white sauce (besciamella?) rather than ricotta or cottage cheese?
Try making a thin white sauce and stirring a couple of eggs (off the fire) and some shredded mozzarella into it.

Cottage cheese is extra decrease priced. it particularly is the extensive style one reason I prefer to apply it. yet I generally upload one layer or ricotta and one layer of cottage just to have the two. maximum human beings have cottage cheese around their domicile besides just to eat, so it makes it much less annoying to make lasagna with it. To me Ricotta as against cottage cheese is a tie in lasagna. yet fee and availability places cottage cheese over the suited. the different necessary components for lasagna? floor meat of a few style, a $a million container of noodles, and a few low priced spagetti sauce. in case you employ cottage cheese, this is low priced and the components are already in many homes! different than the noodles, that are very low priced and shop continuously.

Shorty,
Try substituting cottage cheese for ricotta.
Also... you asked for a recipie that calls for less? Just add less! Substitute more Mozzerella! Recipies are usually just suggestions to some extent. Be creative and have fun!
