Do you think its some unresolved guilt that they are projecting on the rest of us?

I 'got saved' when I dropped all that biased brainwashing that they programmed into me as a child and started studying for myself. I'm better now, and no longer a 'Christian'.
Blessed Be...those who seek their own truths.

Hrm. for sure, it might want to correctly be fairly argued that you're eye-catching in projection with this very question. even with the indisputable fact that the answer isn't any. Christians aren't any extra apt to paintings at the same time in projection than non-Christians. Suggesting such is in simple terms yet another sort of stereotyping and bigotry, and well-knownshows a failure to understand the Freudian attitude on protection mechanisms typically. ultimately, you do not even understand the scripture you attempt to reference, Matthew 7:a million-2. That scripture reads "“do no longer choose, or you too will be judged. For interior a similar way you go with others, you'd be judged, and with the degree you employ, it is going to likely be measured to you." A Christian would not favor to reply with an argument like you describe. maximum Christians keep in mind that this isn't a barring of judging suitable and incorrect; that's a treatise antagonistic to hypocrisy and a plea for consistency. So i imagine your argument right here in simple terms fails for numerous causes.

Depends on the particular character really.

There are some that are really so brainwashed by dogma that they are programmed to tell you to "get saved" like droids.
Others believe that its their sincere duty to save people, they do it cause they think its right.
And yes there are those people you talk about... they go around saying stuff like "get saved" as a form of atonment for something they did.

In the end it doesnt really matter... just ignore them then if you dont like the message or find it irrelevant to whatever you are asking. After all It's your life, NOT mine.

No, I don't think so.
However, I have wondered sometimes why, when I ask questions of Christians, they tell me I should get saved, even though I'm already a Christian.
I try to test them, so that they can defend our beliefs...and although some will actually do so, the rest tell me to read the Bible and get saved.
I know they mean well, but that doesn't work for everyone. Some people can't just operate on faith alone.

I think having any type of religious belief gives people hope and if you have done wrong and have a guiltily conscience it is a good way of letting go of that guilt and moving forward in a positive way.

It's not just about being saved, it's about hope, happiness, and freedom to let go of the past and move on.

No, I don't think it's unresolved guilt. I just think they've run out of things to say, so they turn to an old conversation breaker. "Get saved" gives them a way to get out of an uncomfortable situation and appear righteous at the same time. My favorite response to 'get saved' is "I already have been--when I left your psychopath of a deity!"

Yes....

My personal opinion is probably different than everyone else's.

What I've come to realize....especially after being neighbors to VERY religious people...and with my step grandmother's side of the family........Usually the REALLLLLLY religious people feel that they are better than everyone.
They feel that nobody can compare/match up to themselves...So they tend to preach to people and say "god bless" or "get saved" or something like that as a way of telling you that you're going to go to hell for not being "as good as they are."

I've also had christians tell me this themselves.

One of them actually said
(which is almost impossible)
"I have never lied. I have never cheated. I have never been mad, sad, upset. I have never upset anyone else, either. I'm perfect. I'm God's angel. And I will be going to heaven.....And you will go to hell. God Bless."

I just looked at them in the weirdest way.....And I said "You're full of crap."
and left.

She gasped and covered her mouth and said "God, please save this child of her sins!"

(this girl was like...19) lol

Using the term "get saved", is meaningless to anyone who does not know of their sin. "Get saved" from what? From the power of sin, death, and the devil. How do I do that? I cannot do that. The doing was done by Jesus Christ in his becoming a man and taking upon himself the sin of all people, Being turned away (forsaken) by God, suffering a brutal death, and raising from death to live eternally. This is all gift to and for us. You are a sinner. You need a savior. Jesus is that man . Thanks be to God. Amen

We will feel guilty one day if we look down in hell and see you there and realize we did nothing to try to save you.
