Why do Christians give the worst answers. Its like every thing they type is "get saved".

Does getting saved mean I lose the ability to think outside the box?

Not always. I have met a few that can think outside of the box, but still retain their beliefs. Actually, I would have to say their faith is stronger than the majority we run into here... going just by their words and actions. They have a patience you don't see in a lot of people and they never condemn another. That's not to say they are weak in argument, they don't give catch phrases as answers. I was surprised, actually. I run into so many that only know how to parrot the preacher.

But, the general attitude is that once you get "saved" you no longer think for yourself. They claim the Holy Spirit thinks for them, but the only thing I have seen this Holy Spirit do Thru them is quote the Bible. I find it odd that something that is supposed to be beyond any mortal's wisdom can only quote the Bible.

In this forum yes most of them say something along that line. Why they do it its because they believe that anything can be solved just by thinking that "if im saved, nothing to worry about".

It doesnt mean you lose the ability to think outside the box, it only becomes that when you let it paralyze you from action like some of those people who keep saying "get saved"...

If you knew what Getting Saved meant you wouldn't have to ask the question. On the other hand just saying "get saved" is an assumption you are not saved. Its almost like saying "have sex" I did it so should you! Instead of telling how to get from point A to point B.
Hey I am a Christan, and I am clueless too! As to why people just blurt that out.
Its kind of silly and has no real inner meaning. Hollow phrase.

I'm not religious at all...
But...I can honestly say that not all Christians are like that.
.....just about 85% are. lol
But I get what you mean.

I was on myspace a couple days ago...And I posted a bulletin asking opinions on what I should wear to prom. I had pictures of 2 dresses, and 2 pairs of shoes.
One person replied "That dress is horrible! You're going to hell for your sins! Especially if you wear that! May the Lord save your soul! ..........p.s. Do you attend church?"

....the dress came below the knees and was pink.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with it.
It wasn't revealing or anything. lol

I know that's pretty irrelevant, but I thought about it after reading this.

Having religious dogma absolves you from thinking too deeply about philosophical and spiritual matters whereas atheists will often explore differing philosophies objectively-a lot of them are far more knowledgeable and in touch with their spiritual side than many religionists. Religionists know that and it really annoys them.

I don't know. but a lot of them just cut and paste bible quotes and don't really think for themselves. And yes for the most part you will become brainwashed if you "get saved".

I guess most people who have decided to conform to one way of thinking can't help giving single-minded answers...whether it be Christians,Jews,Muslims,Buddhists......(I am very interested in the fourth one on that list though)

I see alot of "get a life" too. I think it is all just a defense mechanism against something they don't want to deal with. In my case (last night) it was about twenty completely ridiculous questions.

They have no answers. Their brains have turned to mush through all the brainwashing they've received over the years. Blind faith, and bible scripture is all they have to offer.
