Contact a university famous for either its linguistics department or specialization in archeology. They may be willing or curious and able to help you.

play the recording to a linguist, failing that play it to people of different ethnicities and ask them if they see any familiarity with their mother tongue - that will be a clue

I can tell the rough origin of most common languages by the sound, even if I don't understand what is being said

Go to your library and get out language tapes
begining spanish, begining indonesian, begining arabic etc
you don't need to learn every language but just to familiarise yourself with the sounds

You could transcribe a few lines of the recording and post them here in Yahoo! Answers. I am sure you would get a few people to recognize what language it is.

play like 3 seconds of it and it should be recognised. long enough to be known but not long enough to know the contents. you can then ask someone for help about it.
