It's an automatic and the solenoid has been replaced twice and has 4,500 miles on it.

The problem would be to verify the concern for the dealership.. as people have said, if the brake switch isn't fully engaging, it won't unlock, if you have anything heavy or leaning on the shifter, sometimes it won't unlock, also I've had other parts than the solenoid fail (as it's a solenoid connected to a rod that disengages it).. Maybe the next time is to get them to replace more than the solenoid to try to fix it.. as something may be hanging up...

Best bet is to get the dealer to send someone over when it's doing the issue to find out what it is...

also .. there is a black plug under the steering wheel, remove it and there is a small piece you have to push but it will defeat the brake shift interlock to get you places...

I'd take it back again, since this seems to be an on going problem. They probably need to put some lube in the solenoid area, or, might have to get the Ford's research teams on it to figure out why its doing that. SOunds like a possible recall to me. Specially if your not the only one having this sort of troubles. Good luck. Also seems like they aren't changing anything at all either. Request the old part when they swap it out. But that might be hard, as its a warranty thing. Good luck.

It must still have some kinda warranty so I'd take it to the dealer and make them fix it.

since the solenoid's been replaced twice then obviously the problem lies elsewere.

Make sure to press the brake first, the problem is the brake light switch, anyway the brake lights work, its the switch
