No, it doesn't matter if the Brand name is the same, the color scheme would be more important. But I'm not saying that every thing must be the same color. the most important thing is that each appliance works well. A high priced stylish machine that makes loud noise when it is in use isn't worth a darn!

I prefer to have my major appliances that are in the same room match. The aesthetics of the room are important to me. Sometimes colors are different even if called white it can be different based upon the manufacturer. I purchased a foreclosed home and the entire house has to be remodeled. I prefer to put my money in the house for now appliances can be easily replaced and or upgraded but the house is going to be the way I want it when I move in.

I think this is a personal idea. I have matching colors of appliances but not brands. I like my Kitchen Aid mixer but I didnt' like there can opener so I got a Cuisinart can opener. I chose appliances based on how they looked and color verses brand.

It doesn't matter what brands the appliances are. When people see the room, they will notice the color only. I don't even know which brands I have in my own kitchen!!

It is a plus to get them in the same brand - buyers notice these things if you ever sell your home. The stainless in different brands also is a different 'color' some is more shiny, some has a matt finish.

I would go with what I like as long as it matched.
And by the way, you can always get a different door on your dishwasher if you really don't like the stainless steel look. There are other options.

I am a contractor who works in luxury homes , and I can tell you most of the appliances are not the same brand, all are usually stainless steel . Most refridgerators are sub zero. most oven/cooktops are usually.viking , thermador or dacor, and dishwashers are usually bosch or miele, very rarly are they the same brand
