When I was a kid I always celebrated Halloween bc its fun and something to look forward to. I never have had any religion so obviously for me there is no correlation. Halloween is rooted deeply in ancient traditions and religions, today (depending on your culture) it has warped into a fun holiday, day for parties, or a day to be shunned. It really depends on the person and their personal/family beliefs whether or not they celebrate.

Halloween is also called Samhaine.(Sow-In)
Its Pagan New Year.
Its one of 8 seasonal celebrations we call Sabbats. In the Northern Hemesphere its November eve and here in australia its May eve.
Its a time when the veils between worlds are at their thinnest. It is neither summer nor winter.
The seasonal opposite is called Beltane. Simmilar but mainly celebrated as the joining of the God and Goddess in the act of Heiros Gamos. (sex)
The commercialized Trick or Treat version is a Mochery of our religious holiday.

Chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehe
It is a Pagan Holiday and yes, I do observe it. It was mainly a time of reflection about the past year, remembering those who have died the past year and to prepare for the coming winter. It's also a major Harvest Holiday... which basically meant a big party. Basically like our Thanksgiving. It was a cultural thing that seems to have only been in England, Scotland and Ireland.

It's supposed to be the eve of the observed day to celebrate the saints who have gone before us. As for dressing up and eating candy that's just fun.
I'm Lutheran and I also celebrate Reformation Day on October 31.

tradition is one reason as this seems to be more of a celebration here in the U.S. than in other countries except perhaps in Ireland.
