The Highlands of Scotland take some beating. Castles, log fires, great food and drink, friendly, kind and welcoming people, and it is pet friendly so you could stay in a B&B or small Hotel as some take dogs and have a wonderful time.

I`m from North East England as you are talking winter time its generally no colder here than anywhere else so come to Northumberland its really has some stunning Castles and Country houses...the coast line is fantastic the dogs will love it..there is usually a Tourist Information in most bigger towns,,, If you don't fancy Northumberland what about York..now that is a beautiful city with plenty of day and night life...good luck and merry Christmas to your all.

Shell Island in wales,

its a tidal causeway that is cut of from the mainland each day by the sea but has some fantastic views and walks

there are hill
sand dunes (amazing)
beaches sandy and rocky
an estury
harbour

plus your only 5 mins from harlic
10mins from Barmouh
and about 20 from Dogelou (dol-geth-lee)

you are will have some fantistic views of snowdon and are about 20mins away should you fancy a treck.

also get some fish n chips from harlic and sitt on the sea front over looking the bay at sun set if your lucky you will see the pourpus's playing in the bay

the website is crap but google it and you'll see some great pictures

You realise of course we are all passionate about the areas we live in so I have no doubt the replies may run into many, personally I love Wales it has the ruggedness & landscape that blows right through you when it gets stormy,Cornwall is laid back & one can relax at a gentler pace,Hampshire/Dorset again amenities available coupled with the beach & dogs just love the sea,Cumbria fresh air & plenty of places to visit,Ireland always welcomes people from wherever you come from,Good luck & a very early Happy Christmas to one & all!.

Come to York , there so many things to do in this ancient city, particularly if the weather is not so good. Good pubs and local beer with plenty of places to eat and drink. There are caravan parks close to the city so little need to drive a lot as there are many Park & Rides all round the City boundaries.
York is a compact , easily walkable City wiith Roman & Viking remains, a beautiful Minster Cathedral and the River Ouse. There are modern shops if you need them, and the Yorkshire Dales are a short drive away.
Google York Tourist for a selection of useful websites.
