A person need not feel offended at all, if he is able to perceive of his own experience a little bit of spirituality !
The reason is quite simple. Spirituality is about going beyond nature, implying , deepening of perception beyond sense organs, and this perception level cannot be expected from intellectuals who are new/un-initiated to spirituality !

Why would you be offended at something that is not directed at you? A person's inability to do something has nothing to do with you. Do you take offense that fish don't talk to you? Are you upset that you can't teach a cat to breathe water? Of course you shouldn't be offended. You can try teaching them and you can pray for them and be a good example of what you believe. If it is in them to change maybe they will.
