No, they are not compatable but you will need to buy:
Converter, you can purchase this at the airport, our voltage is twice as high so you def need it. I suggest that you buy one per item, I am in USA at the moment and I only brought one with me biggest mistake ever!!!!

I do not believe that the plugs will be compatible, Australian standard is a three pin plug with the active and neutral pins at an angle to the "vertical" earth pin so that active and neutral cannot be interchanged. In many small double insulated items the earth pin is omitted. It is officially illegal to do any electrical work unless you are a qualified electrician so all Australian appliances are sold with plugs attached. However there are converters available. Australian mains are 240 - 250V 50Hz which I believe is the same as the British supply.

The pin layouts are significantly different. However the voltage is the same. You can buy adaptors at the airport - either in the UK or Australia. Should be a few dollars or pounds.

You need an adapter in some countries because of the type of power. If you mean us then no but England you may need an adapter so you may want to get one just in case.

The link above says that it's not likely you'll be able to use them without a converter (which are easily acquired).
