No you have to apply for a marriage visa first, which is for a year and renewable, to get residence status you have to have lived here for at least 5 years then you can apply for residency, it can take another 3 years to finnally get residency after you apply, don't forget you have to have a load of money in the bank and income

No way - lol.... and if you marry your Thai girlfriend, she is not allowed to own anything more. House, land etc.
Her status as Thai will be reduced/limited when she marry a farang.
The Thais really make it tough for foreigners trying to living here.
