note: I do not have the blocked ear. My friend does and she is very insistent that the blocked ear goes away. She has tried using a ear bud thingy but....it sort of poked her ear. She tried closing her nose and blowing but she says that the air is blocked???

Your friend should go to an ear doctor or regular physician to have this checked out. MAYBE she has a wax buildup in her ear. In this case it's a simple procedure for the doctor. In a couple minutes the small particle of wax is out and she'll be able to hear better..
No more more pressure..or blocked sensation.
I had this done 10 years ago. Nothing to worry about.
Good luck!

If it is ear wax causing the blockage then use hydrogen peroxide. The kind you use at home for medical reasons. Tip your head and fill the ear with it and wait five to ten minutes depending how much wax is there. Tilt the head the other way over a tissue and let it pour out. If if it is actually blocked then massage the ear while waiting.

If it is not ear wax then go see the doctor.

There's a great OTC product called Swim Ear . I use it and have used it on my children and my dog. Just a couple of drops in each ear after you swim or shower will dry up all the fluid.

it could be ear wax
wax can be removed with drops (Over the counter drops that help remove wax are largely basically water, oil and peroxide solutions (e.g. brand names are Debrox or Murine), with water jets ("irrigation"), and with instruments by a doctor, audiologist or trained technician.
or it could by fungal infection in the outer ear
any way she should go to doctor
