Does Medicare pay for duoderm?

My Dad is in a nursing home and received a bill for duoderm.

I will try and help you but we need more information. Is your dad in the nursing home for Skilled Nursing under Medicare, or is he a resident of a nursing home with Medicaid. There is a huge difference in the two.

I'm not an expert on the billing end, or exactly what medications and treatments each payor will pay for. However, I do know that Medicare should be paying the entire bill for skilled nursing except for the copay amount. Medicaid on the other hand will not pay for all medications and dressings. There are many dressings that Medicaid will not pay for.

I would suggest you contact the person in charge of billing at the nursing home and make an appointment to see her. She will help explain your bill. She can also tell you other things that are or are not covered by Medicare or/and Medicaid. Just remember, there is a HUGE difference in the two.
