I am together with a wonderful guy. But the further we are getting into the relationship, the more I begin to wonder what love feels like. I don't know if I love him. I "think" I do, but I've always been told that love is this magnificent feeling that fills you up all the time, and makes you fly on little clouds for the rest of your life. I don't have any of that. Most of the time, it just feels good to hold him close, talk to him, or just sit quietly next to him in the car. What do I mean by that? I feel safe, like I am where I want to be. But then other times, when he holds me, I have this wonderfull feeling of ecstasy and warmth in me. We've been close to breaking up a couple of times due to circumstances, and it hurt so badly to imagine a life without him. I couldn't stop the tears. Yet I know that I would survive, and be ok further down the line. The truth is, I had a troubled childhood, and wouldn't know love if it hit me in the face, so I don't know: Is this love? xx

Sounds like love. Love starts off with excitement and lust but obviously its not realistic to expect it to stay like this over life time. Gradually it stabilises and the love of your life becomes someoe you cant bear to live without - like a lover and best friend all rolled into one. The only word I can think to describe it is 'comfortable' in that you feel totally at ease with the one you love, you trust them, respect them etc.

Loves only what you make it, sometimes you just stay with someone through habit. I think if you have some feelings you should make a go of it. Try spicing things up sometimes a long term relationship gets boring, spicing it up sure helps.

Yep, it's love. When you feel safe, love to talk to him, and can't even think about your life without him (or the thought makes you want to throw up), then it's love. From one over-thinking girl to another, stop thinking so much and just enjoy!

Yes I would say you are. Love is undefinable to anyone but themselves in that we each experience it in different ways. One minute you are on a high, the next you doubt your own feelings. Its like a rollercoaster, which in the end levels out at your own personal comfort zone.

Love is not the same for everyone & from what see in your words you are so much in love that it is beautiful.Let go of that past cause it can stop you from having that great man you got.Always look for the now & not the yesterday.

It sounds like love to me.....the reason you don't feel that way is because of your childhood, but it really is love, just the fact that you feel safe and warm. If you didnt love him then when he would go to leave you wouldn't feel that way. good luck sweetie.

sounds like it............ but give it a year and a half and see if it still last. most relationships don't last more than 18 months. because a chemical in our brain that tells us that we are in love goes away after 18 months..........Eating chocolate can duplicate the chemical reaction.

From my experiance it gets better.
I found in my fist marriage that we got 'used to each other' which just was not the same.
Now, it gets better.

Of course it is. Good isn't it? Isn't it just the best feeling you could ever experience?
